The Farm

Local. Natural. Sustainable.

Raven Oaks is a diverse 20 acre farm in Washington Township, MI. Seasonal vegetables are grown in the fields and in cold-frame, hoop houses. Our free range chickens are raised organically for egg production. We have a 2 acre plot dedicated to our pollinator friends. Specific plants attract bees, butterflies, birds and insects that benefit our production. The forest at the back of the property has an old growth swamp with a creek running through.

Seasonal Vegetables

Seasonal vegetables are grown in the fields and in cold-frame, hoop houses. Soon we will have established our CSA program for our community.

Ayam Cemani Egg Layers

Our flock of free range Ayam Cemani, an all black chicken, will be producing beautiful organic eggs.

Wildflowers and Pollinators

We have a pollinator field with native, organic wildflowers. The birdhouses will attract Bluebirds and other feathered friends. Eventually, we will have an apiary.

Our farm is open on market days during harvest season. Please follow our Facebook page for market days and hours.

certified organic

At Raven Oaks Farm, we believe that food should be grown in a natural way that supports biodiversity and does no damage to the environment. Our farm doesn’t use pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or GMOs.

We do everything we can to boost the microbial life in the soil, because all food begins there. Ultimately, the soil gives us what we eat, so we’d better be soil farmers first and foremost.

We are certified organic through O.E.F.F.A., Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association.

Farm Share/csa

Coming Soon to Our Community!

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), which we call “Farm Share,” is a subscription to a season’s worth of sustainable, locally grown produce that is distributed to members throughout the season. It is a form of investment that allows small farmers to continue growing on a scale that may not be sustainable without the CSA model.

A share is a portion of our harvest.  Shares vary in size and the produce in each share varies seasonally.

Interested in joining Farm Share? Get on our list and we will inform you when we are ready to offer our CSA Program.

it all started with a barn

In early 2017 owner, Ryan Morici, drove by a vacant, neglected property that included an old farmhouse and barn. Always interested in a project, Ryan inspected the house with the intention to renovate and flip it but when he saw the inside of the barn the plan changed. The 1800s barn was rough but it had good bones. In the 1960s the previous owners converted the barn into a race horse stable and it housed horses until the 1990s. Renovating the barn became a passion project. The modern stalls were removed and period correct wood was used to restore the barn to it’s former glory.

What’s Next? An Organic Farm! Ryan has been running a local landscape company, Heritage Oaks, for 20+ years. The obvious solution for the land would be to plant trees for the landscape business. Instead, the property would become his passion project to bring the first organic produce farm to Washington Township.
